What could I try to get my phone turned back on? I've tried pressing the power button but nothing seems to be working. When I try to charge it, the screen is still pitch black and its been plugged into the charger for two in a half days and still hasn't turned on.

Try performing a hard reset on your phone.
Be aware that a hard reset will restore your phone to a factory default condition. It will erase all your downloaded apps and user data. It will be like when you first bought it.
Before performing a hard reset, ensure that the charger is not connected and that the external SD Card (if installed) is removed.

Be patient, a reset once started takes a few minutes to complete.
If there is no response to the procedures used to perform a hard reset then the phone has either a faulty battery or systemboard.
