My screen turns black when I turn it on.

I turned my computer on, it shows the Toshiba start scree, but turns black after. I also can see and use the cursor. What is the problem and how can i fix it?

Hi,

What OS is installed in the laptop? Can you start the laptop in 'safe' mode' and see if the screen works?
