Searching... After water damage repair

I just finally brought my water damaged 6 back to life after tearing it down and cleaning everything with 91% isopropyl alcohol including soaking the board for a few hours scrubbing and blowing off with canned air every thing is working like new no problems except the carrier spot just says searching all the time now even if I put in a SIM card or take it out it never changes my question is what should I check I cleaned all the antennas is it just that the chip in the board is shot? Or is there another possible fix? I hate that you can't remove the emi shields anymore to really scrub all the chips

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@jared91 this "can't remove the emi shields " concerns me a bit. You will have to remove all the shields to properly clean the board. Did you remove them?

Well how can I remove them they are soldered on to the board now I can solder but I don't have a hot air setup or anything decent to remove them

If you do not remove the shields, you are leaving 2/3 of the board uncleaned. Use a soldering iron (not a hot air station) to remove those. Even the cheapest soldering iron can be used for that.

Hi Jared,

Glad you could bring the phone back to life. Ive had the same experience with an iPhone 5C.

I would recommend that you try the following:

1. Remove the sim card

2. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

3 . Find a different known working and activated sim card and place it in the sim card tray

4. Turn on Airplane Mode, wait 30 seconds, then deactivate Airplane mode.

I would really appreciate hearing the end result.

Thank you,

Michael
