water damaged wont recognise battery

hi

a customer recently brought a Samsung s6 water damaged in to see if we could do anything with it

we have taken the phone apart and clean with isopropyl

now the phone will start with charger cable in.

says 95% battery charged

but the problem is if we try to boot it will get to Samsung screen then turn off and reboot

i took the battery off just to see if it was actually registering it and to my surprise the phone said it was charging and was at 95% with the battery not plug on

steps taken

1 .disconnected charger port = no power from battery

2. tested with new battery = still no power

3. disconnected cameras = no power

4.plug charger port back = power says 95% charger boot no boot

its not registering battery so not enough power to boot is my guess.

i dont know if it could be related but the iPhones have IC chip problems when w/d batterys charging ect.

any help would be Appreciated has the customer has photos that are valuable to her.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Only responds when being plugged into a charger

If you cannot get your Samsung Galaxy S6 to power on but it seems to recognize a charger and the charging light will come on when the phone is plugged in, then this is a good sign as it indicates that there is at least some life left in your phone. If your device falls into this category, then I recommend that you try to locate and then attempt to utilize a replacement battery. The battery may have been damaged by the moisture as opposed to the phone and a replacement battery may be the key in getting your phone to start up and work again. Any battery that you know is operational and is functioning properly should work. You can barrow one from a friend or family member or if your phone is still relatively new you might even want to consider going down to a local retail location to borrow a battery from one of the phones on display at that location. Just temporarily to see if it works of course. If it another battery does work, then you will have successfully located the cause of the problem and you can look into purchasing a replacement battery.

If you determine that your Samsung Galaxy S6 requires a replacement battery or if you are unable to find a working replacement to use as a test, then I suggest that you consider checking online to see what a replacement battery for your particular device is selling for. Typically, replacement batteries are pretty affordable and are relatively easy to acquire from online stores like Amazon.

Note: If your particular model of smartphone was designed with a non-removable battery then this task is going to be a little more difficult for you but will likely require you to take apart your phone in order to remove and then replace the battery. If your phone falls into this category, then you may want to save this step in troubleshooting as the last and final solution for your cell phone.

Check for corrosion around the the battery connector (on the motherboard) clean w/ 99% IPA, or perhaps ultrasonic cleaner, and if necessary, try reflowing connections in that area.

I have several water damaged s6 motherboards that reboot like you describe, somewhere there is a harware issue but I can not track it down.

However I have had some with corrosion around the battery connector on motherboard that I've been able to clean up and fully recover
