Onboard Speakers not working properly.

I bought this Dell Vostro 1015 used and from day one the onboard speakers were almost inaudible so I started using headphones or auxiliary speakers...Recently the audio out jack has become intermittent and yesterday it finally went...just a hum when you plug in the speakers and zip from the headset...
