Do I really suck this bad? Phone screen replacement.

Hi.

I have been learning and trying to replace phone screens. The first two I have done, I have broke the screens LCD.

I simply open up the screen and disconnect the cables, when plugging them back in and turning the phone on the screen has vertical and horizontal lines everywhere. I have tried and retried and it just seems to get worse. The worse part is I'm 2 for 2.

Am I doing something wrong? I have purchased the iFixit kit and use precaution when doing screens. Maybe I'm bending the connectors, but don't know possibly how. I sometimes use the plastic opening tool to separate the connector and put it back on, or my finger. Regardless, same issue.

Do I really suck this bad? It is extremely discouraging especially because I did this twice, and cant afford to buy another screen. I have done other electronics just fine, RAM, hard drives, laptop screens, wireless cards. All no problem. Is this that difficult? Am I just that bad? Should I just give up?

If anyone can give me any advice at all that would be great. Thank you.

Thanks for the boost of confidence. My screen still isn't working. But found solution for future screen replacements and can now verify it worked. :)
