Won't turn on or charge

My iPhone 5 is stuck on that no battery, please charge me screen and won't charge up although it knows it is plugged in to a charger..

I have left it charging overnight and still no luck.

Any ideas? Or do I need to buy and install a new battery

@johnsmith210498 you did not tell us if your computer recognizes your phone and tries to charge it. I am certain your already ensured that you have a know good cable and that you cleaned your lightning port. If that checks out okay, I'd suggest that you replace the battery as well as the lightning connector port. Use these guides to work on your phone. If your phone should still not charge, than you are having to look a bit deeper into possibly having a charging IC failure (U2). that repair would be a boardlevel repair and will require special tools and skills to repair. You will notice that once you have a charged battery (and replaced your lightning port connector as well) and your phone starts up and behaves normal, but still does not charge.
