Dead during replacement/formatting of hard drive
My MacBook pro seems to need a new logic board. I didn't want to send it to Apple with confidential stuff on the hard drive. A friend loaned me his MacBook pro that is his backup for traveling so I could put my hard drive into his MBP and reformat/install os again. I had it apart and had my hard drive in. During the reformat process, the laptop shut off and is now dead. No amber light on charger at all. I am not sure what happened. I also noticed that my MBP, which would not start but would charge will also no longer charge; no amber light.
Is there some fsilsafe that kicked in when I had the keyboard off??? I have reinstalled his HD and put all screws back in but still no charge on AC. When I was doing all of this, i had it running off AC with no battery installed. The power cord was attached the whole time and no one came near it during the reformat of my drive in his MBP.
Does anyone know what happened and why is affecting the charging/powering of both laptops???
Just some info: his battery is brand new. I tried 2 85W chargers. I tried SMC and PRAM reset. No power at all so no install DVD option.
Is this a good question?
