retrieve data off broken phone

Hello, I have an old note 3 that took a hard fall and the screen broke. The phone never turned back on after that at all. Not just the screen, but the whole phone would not turn on. When plugged into a computer via usb cable, nothing happens.

I took it apart and inspected the motherboard, it looks to be fine and intact. no cracks or anything.

what is the best way to recover the data on the phone? Do i need to replace the screen? Is there an easier way if I don't care about the phone being operational? Just want to access the internal storage to back it up.

@ifixitnoob unless you get you phone to turn on, there is no way to retrieve anything from the memory. No software, no trick will work. You need to determine why it does not start. Unlikely (but possible) that this is because of a bad display. Check your battery, battery connector etc. I'd replace the parts that are know to be broken and work my way up from there.
