Why is there distortion in my device's speaker?

The audio speaker on the device appears to be distorted and user can't hear music or alarms/notifications clearly. plugging in headphones does not help and sound is very muffled.

Options

If there is a problem with audio distortion then the audio jack might have an electrical short.
