Wondering if it's a bad relay switch...?

found a tx-v940 at goodwill. same problem - no power to speakers. Did randomly come on at times, but when powered off then on again, there's nothing at the speakers again. Also a series of clicking noises, like some component is powering on/off. Wondering if it's a bad relay switch....?

Hi Rich Plotner,

Receivers usually use relays to provide speaker protection in the case of a fault on the output of a channel (also used to prevent the speakers from catching fire if due to a fault there was excessive current flow to the speaker). it sounds like one or more are operating.

Here is a link to the service manual for a Onkyo TX-V940. It has all the information, e.g. circuit diagrams etc, to help you to find the problem.
