Hi Guys,

I guess it was indeed a Fan issue. I installed smcFancontrol as you all mentioned and doubled the speed of the fan's. Till now everything works quit well (a bit more noise because of teh fan speed)...

I'll keep you posted.

Thx for helping me out here ;-)

Okay,

I was a bit to soon saying that it works :-(

After installing SMC control the machine still reboots after a few hours. Fan control on the three positions is about 2400rpm, temps are below 40 degrees (exept wireless module which is about 50 degrees celcius)... Anybody have some answers?

This sounds like an overheating issue. Download SMC Fan Control and make note of the fan speeds and temp ratings and get back to us.

Just in case the answer above did not do it, One of the first things to check in this situation is the DC Power Supply/SATA/Inverter cable. This is the power distribution cable that runs under just about everything. The original cable Apple shipped on these units had a flaw in it. The newer cable can be identified by the presence of a part number label on the end of the connector that plugs into the main logic board. With earlier versions of the cable, the part number label is hidden by the chassis and cannot be easily viewed when it is installed in an iMac. The part number is 922-8188.
