What is the original part number and manufacturer of if162-021?

I was thinking of ordering part if162-021 to make a standalone monitor out of it but first I need to make sure I can find a compatible LCD controller board. However, the part number if162-021 seems to be specific to ifixit.com so when I ask sellers of controller boards about compatibility, they have no idea what I'm talking about and need the real part number assigned by the manufacturer. What is the part number? and who is the manufacturer?

Apple did not sell this as an individual part. You had to buy the whole display assembly which is part # 661-5040. This part is reputed to work in:

2.53 GHz (Mid 2010)

2.66 GHz (Early 2009)

2.66 GHz (Mid 2010)

2.8 GHz (Mid 2009)

2.8 GHz (Mid 2010)

2.93 GHz (Early 2009)

3.06 GHz (Mid 2009)

Although you may eventually be able to get it to work, you would be much better served by just buying a 17" monitor that will work with other computers. A new one carries a warranty and be had for $130 - $105. A used one can be had for $50 - $20. Just Google 17" monitor.

Just the Apple screen is going to run you $150, then you need a frame and stand and driver board and cables and power and a way to turn it on..........

Thanks. The reason I go this route is because no standalone monitor has that combination of resolution and size. 1920x1200 monitors are usually 24".

The requirements are as such because this is going to be part of a 'luggable' style build

Although the actual panel was never an Apple SKU by itself, surely the panel manufacturer that supplied Apple (lg/sharp/samsung/whoever) gave it a part number?
