Samsung Galaxy Prevail will not turn on at all

Help! My Samsung Prevail phone will not turn on at all. Even when I try to charge it, it doesn't even show that it is charging! It does absolutely nothing, I think I bricked it. I have no idea how to change batteries at all. I tried putting it in rice and that did not help. Why is this problem occurring and how can I fix it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Have you tried a different charger or proved that the charger you are using works? Why do you think that you have bricked it? What did you try to do before it stopped working? Also did it get wet, otherwise why the rice?

Can you take a photo of the charger port where you can visibly see the pins (I assume this is a micro-usb charger port)

Electra Heart all you have to do to get to the battery is to pop the back cover off. Use your finger nails at the back cover seem to flip it off. Then start with a new one and see if that makes a difference.

As a response to Jay, I haven't tried a new charger yet. I think I may have bricked it or something like that because I turned it on and it just shut off without warning once it got past the Samsung logo in the booting sequence. I spilled water on it a few hours ago, so that's why I did the rice.

To add on, I think the device might be stuck in the Sleep of Death (SOD).

Hi Electra Heart,

Here is a link that shows how to remove the battery.

Samsung Galaxy Prevail 2 Battery Replacement

Given that you got the phone wet, I suggest that you remove the battery and dry the battery compartment with an absorbent cloth (if it is wet) as soon as possible. How wet did it get? If it wasn't fully immersed and the water only spilled on it and you dried it as best you could immediately, then the chances for your phone are good.

You need to open the phone (or take it to a professional repair service) to see if there is any evidence of corrosion or damage caused by the water. Leave the battery out until the phone has been checked.

The sooner it is opened and cleaned properly the better chance it has of working again.

Why did you try to put it in rice? Did it get wet? If so there is little you can do at this point but take it to a professional. I really wish people would stop putting phones in rice..
