Why can't I do a factory reset? Why does it keep rebooting?

I have a Prevail 2. Boost phone. The phone powers on, and loads everything. and about 20 seconds later it reboots. It will do this repeatedly, until the battery is removed. I tried power button & vol ^ button for a hard reset, selected wipe data/factory reset, then selected yes, and it showed confirmation of wipe, and gave the option to reboot now, and it rebooted back to my homescreen, same home picture, same apps, same lockscreen photo.........WHAT AM I MISSING?

Hi,

It appears that you are doing it right.

Here is a link try using methods 2 or 3 and see if they will work.

These methods are valid, but unfortunately, I was unable to successfully complete the factory reset. Thanks anyway. The phone reboots about every 30 or 40 seconds. I haven't found a way to stop it from rebooting. I thought a factory reset would do the trick, but I can't even do a reset

Hi,

If you can (and have the time to do it) go into Settings > Apps (maybe known as Applications) > Downloaded and start to "force stop" the downloaded apps only. Tap each app and then if you can tap 'Force Stop'. You probably only have time to do 1 or 2 each time before the reboot occurs. I'm wondering if an app (non system one) is preventing you from resetting. If you do stop an app and the rebooting stops that may be the one causing the problem. Remember which one it is and as long as you are sure it is not a system app (google the name to verify whether it is or not if you are unsure) uninstall it and see if the problem goes.

I have time to force stop on one or 2, and I've went through each one in the downloads list, and it still does it.
