Screen connector replacement or screen assembly or logic board

Hi

My friends MacBook display stopped working a while back (still displays on external)

he took it to a repair shop and they reported that it need a new display assembly.

now I opened it and when I put it back together it was working but as soon as it got moved or had any vibration it would stop.

so I can clearly see the screen works and the output of the logic board seems fine.

what my main question is can I just replace the display connector?

or does it have to be the display assembly?

thanks alex

You'll need a heat gun to remove the glass. It obviously works but may or may not be the cable. Make sure the contacts and receiving port are clear and no corrosion on the contacts ob the display data cable.

Before doing this, please take it to an ASP and have it tested for this issue (free) and very possibly your solution:

The check your coverage link only identifies your machine, not your coverage for this issue.

ok thanks it seems to be the cable as I had the bottom of the mac off and was "playing" with the cable and the screen was on and off

Just an update

Whilst I was inspecting the screen connection I saw that the screen cable had 2 wires that look like that had a internal brake

So I cut a small section out and soldered it

It seems to of fixed the problem
