Why doesn't camera recognise a memory card is inserted

Camera is not writing files to the cf memory card and is saying a card is not inserted.

maybe contacts are greasy. try to degrease it, any white spirit/alcohol will do. also, you might need to format/reformat the memory card using camera...

I've also discovered that this happens because of a bent pin in the camera where the CompactFlash card plugs into the camera. Mine has been the two pins closest to the eject button.

This can also be caused by a defective/broken CF door switch
