The backlight works but no display...?

I dropped my iphone and got a massive crack in the screen so i bought a new toouch screen online and followed one of the million youtube guides on how to replace it myself.

I Got it all working again but 1 problem -the LCD screen broke when I was attempting to "gently" pry it off the touchscreen so only the top 2/3 of the screen worked. Fml.

I ordered a new screen and digitizer together so i could change it all in one piece. Unplugged everything and plugged everything back in no trouble, easy as. I turned it on and the backlight lit up but I now have no display.

I know the #1 plug controls the LCD and i had a little trouble getting that plugged in with the new screen (took about 5mins), could i have screwed somthing up there?

I tried plugging in my old screen but the same thing happened again.

Nice job fixing it yourself! You are more than welcome to post an answer to your own question explaining what you did and then accept that answer so in the future people can fix this problem themselves.

Yepp that's exactly what was happening. Just connect it all up and close up the phone then reset the phone by holding the home button and the lock button for about 10seconds. Then turn it back on and it should work normally.

well, most of the time, restart of the phone helps. you already fixed it yourself, next time, try to hold both power and home button until the screen switch off...
