Why is my phone constantly charging and stop charging

I am in the middle of replacing my screen on my phone and it isn't showing anything on the screen so I plugged it in to see if anything comes on the screen but it just stays black and after a couple of minutes I guess collecting a charge it keeps making the charging sound but when I switch it to viberate it does viberate except when it's the charging viberate and it makes the sound every 5 seconds. Please help

Check your install. If you hear that "ding" charging sound, it means the phone is on. Check that you plugged in each connector properly. It's real easy to misalign it. Slide your finger across each connector to make sure it's all seated in. If it still doesn't show anything, plug your old screen back in (if it still works) and see.

I've triple checked all the connections and even disconnected the batter and reconnected it and it still isn't working. Could it be a software problem? I can't plug the old screen if I was taking the glass of the digitizer and it might have broke so it's just black.
