Do I need to replace my internal microphone? If so, how?

Before my internal microphone went bust, it was smooth and nice, but since a few months ago, it randomly died on me and when I was testing my microphone with skype testing, it came back as unresponsive, but it also replayed a full static microphone. I've researched problems from static to enabling it back but they didn't work. I don't know what's causing the problem, if there's a malfunction in my microphone, or what, but how can you fix this problem? Thank you.

If you can find a replacement mic you can follow the guides on this page to pull it apart to replace it in the screen repair you can see the mic up near the camera and in the teardown you can follow the mic cable from the screen to the board where it plugs in

HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b142dx

If your not so inclined to tear it apart you can just use an external mic with a set of headphones or earbuds with attached mic .Hope this helps
