My phone says my SD card is not attached but it's attached.

I have had my phone for over 1 year now and never experienced this problem. I was sitting down and just randomly my phone said " SD card not attached" and took all my photos and music with it. I check my phone and my SD card is still there where its suppose to be. All my photos and music i had are gone because they were part of my SD card but the problem is that my SD card is attached when it's telling me that it's not. I've tried re-setting my phone a couple of times and i even placed alchohol on the SD card, waited till it dried and placed it back in. It still does not show any of my photos and music. My SD card is one of the smallest ones and it has 4GB. I really don't want all my photos to be gone, i had over 1,000! Please tell me how to fix this. Thank you.
