Why will my camera not flash or take picture?

I bought this camera at Goodwill so I'm not sure what the possible problem is. I open my OneStep and I hear the hum of it working. There is a film package in it and I am kind of sure that it has film ready to be used. I am not sure if the age of the film has anything to do with this issue at hand. I try to take a picture with the camera but it does not flash and a picture does not print. I remember when I first bought the camera, it did make the noise as if it took a picture but there was no flash or print of picture. Now it doesn't even make the sound as if I took a picture. I'm not sure what the issue is.

Polaroid cameras that use 600 series film cartridges are powered by a battery built into the cartridge. If the cartridge is old, the battery is likely bad.

Try the camera with a new cartridge. 600 series cartridges are still in limited production under the "IMPOSSIBLE" brand. They're not cheap however, expect about $20 for an 8-shot cartridge.
