Why won't my laptop start up?
My laptop has worked perfectly until one day it would not start up. The TOSHIBA logo comes up on the black background, but it never goes further than that.

Get yourself a windows disk for whatever OS you have on your laptop and boot from the disk and run a windows repair . It sounds like you may have lost your boot partition. You can download an iso and make a disk or use a jump drive with windows usb/dvd download tool . You can also download the OS you need with your product key from the windows store. You may have to do an OS install. if this is the case take the Hard drive from your machine and make a copy of all the files you want off it before trying you may also want to use a keyfinder program like jellybean keyfinder to get you windows key if its not on the laptop case. You will need the key to reload the OS or you will need to buy a new one ( or hack )depending on your sense of obligation

If you are able to access safe mode on the computer you can also try running a sfc scannow in the command prompts this may also help

i suggest you check the amount of ram that your system can see by entering bios and making sure it matches the amount that should be in your system.
if it is less/ no ram i would suggest remove and refit the ram sticks.
them if that does not work either follow what Jimfixer said
or if you have spare ram test with that.
