Coffee Spill, Took Apart, Put Back Together and Now...Black Screen?

I spilled coffee on my MacBook Pro. I dried it upside down on a towel and also followed the tutorial on this website to take it apart. It worked great- I cleaned the inside and did not seem to damage anything.

I put it back together, turned it on and it makes the "welcome chime", but the screen is black.

I have tried holding down the shift key, holding down ctrl, option and shift, as well as command, option, P and R. None of these work. The computer remains the same. Turning on and off fine, but the screen is still black.

Any ideas how to fix this? Or what I might have damaged?

Thanks!

I would guess that your LCD has been damaged. Likely either the display itself or the part on the logic board it connects to. Corrosion could be very minor.

Try plugging it into an external monitor to test this out. If you end up determining you may have board damage you should get it properly cleaned by a professional repair shop (that does Water Damage Repair) to mitigate the risk of further corrosion and costly unexpected repairs down the line.

Thank you! I plugged into a monitor and it worked- computer is fine. Now is it the data display cable that is in charge of that and needs to be replaced? Or will it end up being as much money as a new computer?

My money would be on the actual LCD being damaged and needing to be replaced (about $300) but it could also be the cable...I suppose. That's far cheaper at just $30 or so.
