Can I switch my trackpad to a different top case?

I'm buying a Top case with keyboard +battery etc. from cmd macparts but it does not include a Track Pad assembly. Is it possible to remove the trackpad from my original topcase and install it into the new one? As far as I can tell the trackpad is functional, it's only the keyboard and battery switch which are damaged from a water spill.

Yes, you can remove the old trackpad and put it into the new upper case.

Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2012 Trackpad Replacement. While this is for a newer model follow this guide first to get the parts out of the upper case: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2010 Upper Case Replacement.
