Liquid Damag: Trackpad or Logic board? (A1502)
Some water was spilled on the trackpad and keyboard and following problems persist since then:
- Fan running all the time, even when laptop isn't hot
- Its %#*@ slow now
- The trackpad stops working sometimes, but then closing the display flap and opening it again fixes it. Perhaps it goes into some sort of sleep mode and comes back.
- Everything else works just fine
My earlier guess: Some thermal sensor has probably gone bad and that causes the OS to think that its hot enough to be cooled down. And so it starts the fan and slows down all CPUs, so they don't generate more heat.
I took it to some Apple authorized service center in India and they (after running diagnostics) are telling that the logic board needs a replacement (~ $650). But I am not sure, as at multiple places on net, people asked to replace the trackpad (which comes in the body itself)..
Any help would be really useful..

Is this a good question?

Thanks Dan and Holger. Actually this is a company sponsored laptop and I don't want to do things with it myself, that I would surely have done on my machine :)
And so I may go ahead with a replacement of mother board, if nothing else works out.
Though, I think that your tricks can work for sure, they look really good.
Thanks a lot !!
