MacBook Pro doesn't start

Hello

In my hands is a Macbook Pro 13" Unibody from late 2012 with i7 2.9 Ghz CPU which doesn't start. No liquid has been spilled over, it just did shut down unexpectedly and would never start again.

I tried the troubleshooting from apple's website, i.e. resetting SMB with key combinations but there's no way to start it. Nothing happens when I press the power button, no noise, nothing...

The battery seems well charged as the green LEDs on the left hand side turn on if I press the button next to them. Also if I connect the power adapter it gets orange until the battery is fully charged and then turns green.

I tried to start it by doing a bridge as shown on this picture to bypass the power button, but again nothing happens while doing it. Should there be the keyboard connected or not, the result is the same.

Any ideas ?

Thanks for your help.

I suspect a logic board failure related to the i7 processor. The class action law suit and ensuing repair program for the 15" i7 models does not currently cover the 13" machines. But I have seen to many of the 13" 2011-2012 machines with failures. https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro...

My suggestion would be to get a "Flat Rate Repair" from Apple. Cost with 4 day FedEX Shipping and tax is about $357. This way if there ever is a suit on this machine, Apple would be obligated to refund your repair costs.

That sounds bad, because I'm in Mexico and iShop in Merida said that a new logic board would cost approx 15'000 MXN, which is more than 800 USD.

Thus I don't know if I could send it in the US for repair, as I tried to phone Apple support in mexico and they told me to check with other iShops around.

Are you sure about the fact that a repair in the US would cost only about 360$ ?

I'm as sure about the $357 flat rate cost in Texas, as I am about the Club De Patos in Sisal being the best duck hunting I have ever had. The closest Depot repair location to you is in Houston, so if you can get it there and back via a friend you might be able to avoid taxes they might want to impose. If don't don't have alternative, click n my icon and email me. Find out if I can mail it back to you without hassles.
