What is this blocking the internal pieces of my iPhone 5S?

How do I remove this from the inside? I plan on reassembling a Digitizer, LCD, and Front Screen. I'm not sure what it is.. Looks to be where the battery and display parts are. http://tinypic.com/r/30u4cpe/9 I can take more photos if necessary.

That is the back plate and bracket of the front screen assembly. The next step is from the outside of the iPhone you need to unscrew the two pentalobe screws next to the lightning port. Then you can carefully open the iPhone, you must be very careful not to tear the home button flex cable as you lift the front screen bracket.

Alright, Brad. How would I go about CAREFULLY removing the bracket, as this is for a special person.

Also, could you link to me an ifixit guide?

Hi there, you'll definitely want to open the phone from the bottom, there are cables under that plate that you don't want to damage! Follow our front panel guide to get a better idea of how the phone goes together. Good luck!
