Why does my Vita shut off when the battery isn't dead?

My PS Vita PCH 1001 will shut off when the battery life is at half or less. I can turn it right back on but it repeats this process every 10-15 mins.

I have a 3rd party charger, if that makes a difference.

Thanks Jayeff!

However I did find this last night and it seemed to do the job. I just had to open the Vita up and disconnect and reconnect the battery. Here's a link,

Hi,

What is the output of the charger? Is it at least 5VDC 1.5A (1500mA)? If so it will be fine to charge the battery whilst playing. If it is less, then you need to turn off the PS Vita when you are charging it to get a proper charge

If your PS Vita doesn't fail when connected to the charger but does when on the battery alone, (and you have a charger with the correct output) then your battery is failing and needs to be replaced. Even rechargeable batteries have a life span.
