What logic board do I need?

Hi there folks.

I have a iMac A1311 EMC-2428 and have just recently blown the logic board in it (by plugging in a powered USB device with an incorrect power supply, I know, very stupid!)

I am now looking in to replacing this myself but I am unsure how to identify if I am ordering the correct part.

I have so far found many parts that are for model A1311 but only one of them was specifically labelled EMC-2428 and that one is no longer available.

So, my question is, will any logic board designed for a A1311 physically fit in to my iMac or does it specifically need to be the EMC-2428 for it to fit. I am not too bothered if I have to change processor but at the kind of price these things go for I just want to make sure I at least get the right one to fit.

Many thanks in advance

Alex

I also am in need of a logic board for a A1311 iMac i3 3.06. However, looking around the internet, it seems like there is more than one option available for this computer. I am not talking about the 3.06 C2Duo, but rather the i3. Can anyone shed any light on this? Do I absolutely need to replace it with the same 661-xxxx number? Thanks!

BTW this is a emc 2389

Chosen Solution

I would stay with the logic board from one of these three machines:

http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-loo...

i5 2,5GHz Apple part #661-5935

i5 2.7 GHz Apple part #661-5936

i7 2.8 GHz Apple part #661-5937

Shop for prices as the i7 may be cheaper.
