Unresponsive Touchscreen. Can I still recover the data?

So my iphone 5s was working fine until one day froze itself somehow. The screen is not damaged or broken but not responsive. The phone though rings and receives texts but I cant answer them. So I would assume the logic board is not damaged. And since there is passcode on the phone I aint able to connect the phone to itunes as it asks to unlock the phone with the passcode.

The Apple store tried to replace the screen with a new one but unfortunatley nothing changed. They were not sure exactly what the problem is. So my only option was to get a new phone (free). But my concern is that some data has not been backed up for a month. So I was thinking to open the iphone myself and remove the logic board and install it in another iphone 5s. I wonder if doing so would help to access the data that was on my iphone??? And if not is there anyway to recover the data???

If replacing the display assembly doesn't change your current problem, then putting it in another phone won't help either. My guess is it's one of two things. Either the digitizer socket, or the touch IC

I'm not going to replace the screens. I want to get the logic board of this unresponsive phone and putting it in another working iPhone.

Is it possible to repair these two you mentioned ? The digitizer socket or the touch IC

Im sorry I wasn't clear enough. Those two parts are on the logic board. Yes, it's possible to repair them. Micro soldering isn't for the usual repairman, though. You should check it iPad rehab. They have a mail in service, and are very good

If you connected your device and synced your device through iTunes before, you can sync it even when locked. You should be able to gather your info. Otherwise you can spend $20-80 on a screen repair if its worth your data. Also, you can check on icloud.com and you can view all the data your phone backed up on iCloud.
