Dead, no power, no charging

My wife and I have a Droid Ultra / Droid Maxx (MOTXT1080) and the following happened:

When I was playing a game on my Maxx, I noticed the battery was at 34%. I plugged in my charging cable and the phone was dinging (noise it makes when the charging cable is plugged in), and it was going back a forth that it was connected and then not connected. I set my phone down and when I picked it back up again in a few minutes, the screen was blank. I moved the phone to 4 different chargers with 4 different cables. I also have a wireless charger. None of them appeared to charge the phone. Nothing was being displayed to indicate the phone was charging. Now, when I plug in the phone, the green LED on the top left comes on and nothing else. This happened 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, my wife's Ultra did almost exactly the same thing. My wife plugged her's in and walked away for an hour. Came back and the phone was dead. No LED on her phone so far when trying to charge it. What are my options? I'm an IT pro, but my only cell phone repair experience is replacing cracked iPhone screens and swapping batteries on iPhones. I have the tools to break them down, but they may require skilled component repair. I'd like to retrieve my wife's photos if nothing else.

Hi,

Here is a link which shows how to perform a 'soft' and a 'hard' reset on your Droid Maxx

Be aware that a hard reset will erase all your downloaded apps and user data. It will restore your phone to a factory default condition. It will be like when you first bought it.

Jayeff, I don't know if you saw in my post that I'm an IT Pro. I googled all the soft and hard reset options prior to posting on this site. Let me just say for the record "been there, done that" and we can move on to a more meaningful conversation about what other options there are in solving this issue.

Thank you.

Hi,

Apologies, Can you, have you, tested the first charger you used to see if has the correct voltage output? My thinking is that maybe if it had a higher output than rated it may have damaged some components thereby making subsequent chargers appear not to work. Also, try disconnecting the battery, (haven't checked how easy it is to do) press the power button to dissipate any residual power, reconnect the battery and see if it a) turns on, b) charges Motorola DROID MAXX Battery Replacement

Jayeff,

I have not tested the charger, but the one I was using is a 5V 1A USB charger. The original charger is a 5V 1150mA USB charger. I will give your suggestion a try and disconnect the battery. I have to disassemble the phone completely to unplug the battery.

Thanks for the link. I'll post a reply once I have reset the battery.
