iPhone 5S headset speaker pops and mic cuts in and out...

So we lost my wife's 5C to water damage and decide to use our insurance to get a replacement. Too our surprise the replacement was an upgrade... well sorta.

We got a 5S in place of her 5C, but the headset speaker pops and it is next to impossible to make calls with. Seems that when she uses it on "speaker" the mic cuts in and out, but the speaker seems to work.

Instead of taking my chances with another dud from the insurance co, I want to just fox this one. Just not sure that replacing the speaker will fix the problem entirely.

Thoughts?

Repair or send back for another?

Thanks

Was it a new phone?

(Check warranty here:https://checkcoverage.apple.com/gb/en/;j...)

If still In warranty take it to apple they are normally very good

They may even just replace

If not in warranty I suggest talking to insurance company

Do not open the phone unless apple and insurance say no

Good luck

no, not apple.

assurion i think is the insurer.

yes it's covered still.

...but you are getting a "refurbished" phone, not new. more times than not, they only fix the obviously broken parts, then ship them out. I doubt they are fully tested prior to being said shipped out as "refurbished", hence why I am pondering fixing it myself .

Well

If you're confident why not

As long as you follow the guide should be fine

As to weather replacing the speaker will work

Most likely

But if you want you can just open the phone and check all the connection as if it was a refurbished phone they may have accidentally messed up to conectors

Well, it's definitely refurbished phone. I don't know why you wouldn't send it back. If you really think you'll make things better, as opposed to worse. Here's a guide
