Why is my iPhone waking up every 10 seconds?

Please help - any ideas appreciated.

After put to sleep, the phone wakes up to the "slide to unlock" screen every 5-10 seconds or so and then goes to sleep again... and then wakes up again... goes to sleep... and so on indefinitely. It takes a little longer (1 min) after a full power up, but once it starts this wake/sleep/wake/sleep thing it does it indefinitely.

The phone had light water damage and the home button stopped working (digitizer does work). It otherwise recovered fully and does not shut off or malfunction while in use or plugged in. This just happens when it goes (or its put) to sleep, and it does not stop unless the phone is unlocked.

Please help - any ideas appreciated.

It happened to me too after i upgraded my iphone 6s to iOS 10. They have a new feature called 'raise to wake' which wakes your screen up so you can see the date and time quickly. You can turn this off by going into 'settings' -> 'display and brightness' then toggle 'raise to wake' off.

I'm going to go ahead and guess you've already turned the phone off and on and again, and after that, you tried resetting your phone?

Hi iMedic...Yep, have soft and hard reset, restored, set up as new, set up as old, upgraded the software and played around some with the home button to see if clicking it rapidly would improve something....

I have noticed that sometimes tripleclicking the hb does the reach thing so there is some partial home button response... And sometimes it almost seems like the button would be pressing itself (kicks me out to home screen randomly from an app)... Leads me to think the wake-up issue could be Home button related? Ideas?

Well, you could try disconnecting the home button, to see if that's the issue. However, if you have a problem with your stock home button, you're going to have some limited options

iPhone 6 Home Button Replacement

Thank you iMedic! I did as you suggested and tried the phone without the button plugged in (gasp! Dint know you could turn it ON with parts unplugged) and guess what... The phone was not waking up on its own any more... So enter the magnifying glass and bright light, and I saw a tiny tiny spot of corrosion on one of the tiny tiny pins of the home button assembly cable plug... Very carefully I scraped off the corrosion with a needle and a tiny brush, plugged it back on, put it back together and voilĂ ! Not only does it not turn on and off by itself any more, but my Home Button started working again!!

any instructions on how to do this? my home button is intermittently working as well

A water damaged iphone needs to be taken apart and the logicboard shields have to be taken off to water treat the iphone into pure alcohol as it will cause more problems down the line as corrosion sets in ,goodluck
