iMac as rack server

Dear iFixit.

I have a very strange question for you.

I need Mac machine (want to practice iOS development). I don't want to pay a lot for it.

So my question here: Is it possible to create mac just from motherboard (I mean buy memory, power supply, etc.) and connect it to external monitor?

Have you ever done that? Waiting for your response.

Get a MacMini, it will serve you much better and will work in a rack.

I think about that. But I need more performance than mac mini can bring

We have a few developers who use them without any problems doing OS-X coding. iOS coding shouldn't require more power. While it would be nice to have something more powerful one does have to look at ones pocketbook and what is possible/practicable as well. Maybe you need to go after a used system. Later on after you've sold your first app spend the money on a Mac Pro system

What kind of budget are you looking at and what do you have for peripherals?
