For how long does a new battery normally charge?

I have just replaced the battery (2 hours ago or so). My ipod had been dead for a good 6 months or so prior to that, with no signs of life. After replacing the battery, it came back to life, with all my music showing and playing when connected to the computer (or with that little charge that the battery initially had). Since it came back, I think I connected everything correctly. However, my computer still does recognize the devise. iTunes does not recognize it at all. The system says, the connected devise malfunctioned. The Kenwood player in my car doesn't recognize it either. So, should I just give it more time to charge, or have I done something wrong and need to redo? Please, help! I so ready for my ipod to be back!

What kind of cables are you using to connect?

by

I am using the one that originally came with the iPod, the one I was using to charge it from the computer.

Where'd you get the battery from? Kinda doesn't make sense that it's the battery. I'm wondering if you damaged the lightning dock, while doing the repair

I got the battery from ifxit. There was no mention of the lighting dock in the battery replacement tutorial.

By now, the computer does recognize the device. The player in the car recognizes it at first, it plays for a while, but then the connection breaks.

You don't actually interact with the lightning dock, while doing this repair. However, I am wondering if you've accidentally damaged it, while doing the repair

Where exactly was the lightning dock, and how it looks?

by

It's actually soldered to the logic board. It could be removed, but it's kind of a lot of work. You said you have this problem charging it from the computer. What about the wall?
