What is the Mag-Safe light doing? Does it have a battery test button on the side?

by

Hi mayer,

The magsafe light starts green when pluggin in then after a few seconds turns orange..

I measure around 12.55v at the battery connector but that voltage sometimes stays on for couple minutes then drops to about 2.33v. and repeats.

There is no battery test button on the macbook pro retina

Hi Dan,

Let me ask you a question first.

I only have a 45watt mag2 charger while i have a rMBp 13 " will this be enuf to power my device? I mean normal conditions because now it wont boot normally only when using the smc bypass method.. And doing that i do not detect any battery. So im not sure if coconutbattery will help me there.

What does the MagSafe charger LED telling you Red or Green? If Red the battery is not charged, if Green the battery is charged. Having the wrong charger is not a good idea, all it means it will take 2/3rds more time to charge and it won't offer enough power to sustain the system if the battery is discharged. But you need to give us the screen shot!
