Is a MacBook Air Logicboard upgrade possible?

G'day everyone,

So a family member recently gave me their old and broken Macbook Air (Early 2008) simply because I like to tinker with computers and thought I might be able to get it working.

So I've had a look at the computer (an original early 2008 1.6 GHz Air) and I've found that the logic board is toast.

My question is this; seeing that the early and late 2008 Macbook Airs are very similar, would it be possible to purchase a late 2008 macbook air logic board (With the Nvidia GPU) and put it into this old computer to bring it back to life (with El Capitan instead of being limited to Lion)? Or is it simply impossible?

This is one of the few cases Apple made a big change in the logic board and made it fit the older case. You will also need to replace the HD as well unlike the older model which had a PATA drive this newer A1304 series uses a SATA drive.
