Why will my HDMI ports not work on my tv?

I have tried to plug my ps3 in to the tv. The no signal sign shows up on tv, but I can get no pic or sound through my HDMI or the RCA jacks? Any suggestions

Have you tried something else besides your PS3? What model is your TV? Have you tried a known good cable?
