Why can't I boot my iMac G5 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo?
After using it for about 14 months, I have suddenly not been able to boot up my iMac G5 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. It powers up but I only get a grey screen that eventually changes to the “Flashing-?-Folder”.
Depressing the option key at startup produces a depiction of a hard drive but clicking on the arrow beneath it only freezes the cursor – eventually changing again to the “Flashing-?-Folder”.
I’ve reset the PRAM several times to no avail. Ran the hardware test, short & long, produced “No trouble found”.
Tried “Disk Utility’s First Aid” which produced “Failed” “Stopped verifying permission on Macintosh HD” because “No Valid Packages”.
Is there any other option to get access?
If not, could I remove the 160 GB HD & install one of a higher capacity?
Could I then find a way to access the files on the 160 GB HD by making the removed HD an External Drive in its own case?
Any other ideas?
Is this a good question?
