Strange color smudge/stain on image

Hello. I have a 6-month old Optoma Gt 1080 projector. Out the sudden it started displaying a strange "stain" that is always fixed in the same position. It is always present, but very noticeable with light colors. I have cleaned the exterior glass with no result. After doing some research, I concluded that the lamp should not be the issue here (the problem seems like something else, and the lamp has been used less than 200 hs.). Do you think it is a dust or dirt problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Not certain, but I think that your projector uses a colour wheel. It is not unusual for a single chip projector to use a colour wheel.

I am wondering if the smudge problem has something to do with the wheel or the light-sink diffuser/reflection plate

Here is a link which describes Digital Light Processing with a section on Single chip projectors which may be of interest..

Here is a link which shows the specifications of your projector. (see Display Technology specification)

Given that it is only 6 months old, I suggest that you check the warranty period of your projector and if still valid, contact the manufacturer's customer service section regarding a warranty repair/replacement.
