My iPad always shutting down when I'm not using it

I bought a brand new iPad a week ago and everyday when I'm not using it it shut down and I have to hold the home screen button and the lock screen button for 30 second or so Any help would be appriciated

If it is brand new, I would be taking it back for a replacement, as there are a few issues that could be causing this, but you would be better off getting it replaced then going through the repairs.
