Keyboard Trackpad Not Working

2007 Macbook Pro 2.4Ghz C2D

Hello,

I have a 2007 Macbook pro non unibody that the keyboard and trackpad don't work. I have replaced the whole keyboard and trackpad assembly top case with no avail. The power button works and the computer recognizes when i unplug the ribbon cable from the logic board because the fans kick on high. when i plug the assembly back in the fans go back to normal. the backlight also doesn't work. i can't see it being a hardware issue because the computer wouldn't see it as being there in the first place if it was. plus its a second known working assembly from another macbook pro. What could be the issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

How swollen is the battery?

by

battery isnt swollen at all. in fact ive had the battery out the last few months while ive been using it as a desktop mostly. I read online that some other people have had issues where the ribbon cable needs pressure on it for the keyboard and trackpad to work. my case it doesnt work either way. and if i connect the assembly to another macbook pro it works fine.

Does the unit boot up when the power button is pressed? If so use an external keyboard and mouse.

If not, please tell us any lights or sounds you get, what your mag-safe adapter is showing.

UPDATE 1/23/16

I think it is a hardware issue. To test, boot from the original system installation disk or other external device and see if the issue persists.

Boots up fine with power button. No unusual light or sounds. Gets to desktop with no response from keyboard and mouse. Can use external mouse and keyboard just fine. Can power off from power button

also when i unplug the keyboard/track pad top case assemble ribbon cable from the logic board when the computer is on the fans come on high like the computer saw it was unplugged. So the computer is seeing the keyboard and track pad but they dont work. the keyboard back lights wont even come on. its just odd since the top case assembly works in another macbook pro.
