Why volume up button not working but down is?

Hi,
Here is a link which shows how to replace the screen in a Galaxy Pro 8.4. I realize that is not your problem but at least it shows how to open your tab and once open you have got access to the volume buttons and perhaps can see what the problem is.
It is in German but the video is self explanatory. Hopefully this is of some help.
