PSP's wont play games or movies?

Hey guys:

My son's are now on their 3rd PSP's. They have the 2000 and 3000 units. The screen stopped working on one, but I was able to repair it. Now all the units have stopped playing games. After putting in the disk the games never load. I think the UMD drives have failed, but I dont know for sure. Should I replace the UMD drives and where can I purchase the drives?

Try downloading some game demos and see if those launch. If they do, then yes, sounds like it's a busted UMD drive.

Also, and this is going to sound really weird: Try taking out the Memory Stick, do a full power off (not just sleep), restart and see if it loads UMDs. I've heard it may be caused by crappy Memory Sticks.

IF you replaced the screen you may have accidentally unplugged the wires from the UMD drive. I have completely disassembled 5 PSPs and the UMD cord comes through a hole from the back to the front and connects right under the screen. Check that.

Thanks for the reply, Rob. Both of these units are not the ones I fixed the screen on. We've had this issue with 4 different PSP's and its always the samething. They work for a while and next thing you know they wont load the games. I've tried installing the software updates, nothing works.
