Need a 45w power adaptor and a DC board for iBook G4

Would like to install myself. Do you use a conventional Allen key to open back? Does the installation of the board require and soldering?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi! No soldering is required, just follow this guide.

And here's the DC-in board

And the AC adapter

Please note, the DC-in and guide are for the 12" G4. If you have a 14" G4, you'll just need to look up the 14" version of the DC-in (which is longer), and use the 14" guide.

You can use an allen wrench, although torx will fit a little tighter, but either work. The procedure is pretty substantial, but the iFixit guide will get you through it.

Thanks, and good luck!

it's not exactly clear which model iBook you have but regardless the repair guide for your particular model will list the tools you will need. typically aside from regular screwdrivers you may need a Torx screwdriver.

to replace the DC board you do not need to solder anything - there are connectors joining it to the main logic board
