Why is half my screen black and flickering on my LCD Tv?

Hello, I recently got a LCD Samsung LN46A530P1FXZA from my friend who found it on the side of the road. I have no warranty or anything on it so i was wondering if there was a quick fix for my problem. When i turn my tv on half the right side of the screen is dark and it flickers too after a while when the tv warms up the screen will fix and be fine. I've been researching and a lot of people have this problem. My question is, is it the backlight or the ribbon? Please help I have limited money and would take the risk of fixing it myself.

there is probably, I don't know for sure, 2 halves to the backlight. If so, there is probably 2 sections of the power supply powering them. That might mean 1 is bad.

There could also be a problem with the connectors or the LED strip itself.
