I just receive the battery I bought. doesn't work

I bought a direct replacement for this iPod.

Installed it per directions.

It says it's fully charged, but when I unplug the charger, it all fades away.

I've done a reboot twice now.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@rosadoco does it only say charging when plugged it? Does it do anything without the charging cord plugged in? You double checked to make sure that you have the battery cable properly inserted? What happens when you reinstall the old battery?

It does say charged (the plug, not the lightning bolt) ONLY when plugged in.

When I unplug the charging cord, it fades to nothing.

I have rechecked the battery cable several times. It is firmly attached to the plug.

It begins charging with the old battery, when I reinstall it.

By experience, it's either a bad contact on the installation, but because you can actually charge it I would tell you you've received a defective unit.

Keep in mind you might as well have an other issue linked to the iPod. But I doubt it !

Good luck !

I don't know if I can actually charge it. It simply displays the "plug" symbol that indicates it is charged. When I unplug it, it fades to nothing.
