Why wont my phone turn on

I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S3. I didn't know it was locked so I attempted a few passcodes but I don't want to lock the device. I looked on youtube on how to reboot or reset the device and i tried the volume button with home and power button. Now it's just sitting on the T Mobile screen like it's loading but it has been like this for an hour and 45 miutes! What can I do to fix it? Is it stuck or does it just take long?

Sounnds like the phone is frozen . Try removing the battery and starting over. To do a factory reset you need to have at least a 40% charge its better to try with a full charge so make sure the phone is charged before starting.
