Part of the screen not fully illuminated!

After a night in a sleep mode, displays right part of screen is not fully illuminated. The lights on the bottom of display that should be illuminating the screen are not working/on. Right part of the screen is getting some light from the lights on the left part of the screen! Beside that, everything else works fine.

Please is there anybody who can tell me what the problem is and how to fix it.

Thanks!

Lets first try resetting the SMC. Follow this Apple T/N: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac.

It sounds like the backlight has failed. Basically it's a strip of small LED's that illuminates the LCD from the top & bottom. It could be the backlight its self or it could be the WLED driver or the wiring to the display thats messed up (often I see this on systems that have liquid damage).

Well replacing the LCD panel assembly is possible but a lot of work and it will show some shop damage from the process. Here's the IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2009 LCD Replacement.

Frankly, I would recommend just replacing the full lid assembly as its much easier. Here's the IFIXIT guide for doing this: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2009 Display Replacement which isn't much more ($150 US).

Thank you for your respond Dan! I've tried to reset SMS but unfortunatly no changes. I guess that on the right part of the display LED's are not working any more. Do you know if I need to change a whole display in order to have it functional again? Thanks!
